I fell madly in love with this City Chic Succulent Sweetie dress the moment I saw it in Nordstrom over a year ago! The PRINT -- SO vibrant and bold...and unexpected!!! I mean...succulents? This year, I was thrilled to be able to travel to New York for Full Figured Fashion Week 2016! I've never been before, so this was a huge deal for me...and when I heard that Essie Golden -- the amazing blogger behind the #GoldenConfidence movement -- was hosting her second annual Golden Confidence Plus Size Pool Party, I knew that I HAD to be there! So, I extended my trip and added another weekend! The party was held at a very nice rooftop pool at the Holiday Inn Midtown in Manhattan. I had a blast...so many gorgeous curvy ladies to talk to and compare fierce swim suits! It was a  bit of a dream come true! So...on Saturday night, I grabbed a taxi and headed to the pool party!

I was a little early, but it was fate...since I got to meet two of my absolute favorite blogger crushes -- Amanda from the Latest Wrinkleand Lisa from Mustang Sally Two. I immediately knew that we were meant to be BFFs!!

 AHHHHH, and here's another amazing blogger spotting! Darlene from Suits, Heels, Curves! She looked amazing, and later that night walked in the Ashley Stewart Runway Show modeling another fierce plus size swimsuit!

One of my favorite moments of the night was meeting Sasha the Glamazon...who was WERKIN that neon sheer overlay! She is absolutely amazing and was so funny and kind...and FIERCE, of course!

 Overall, it was a great night, and I will absolutely be pre-ordering my tickets for next year's event! SO FUN!!!

When I was planning my poolside outfit for this year's Golden Confidence Plus Size Pool Party, I could NOT decide which one of my swim suits to bring! I wanted something dramatic and unique...and I didn't to show up in something that another fabulous curvy lady was wearing! I ended up finding the perfect DIVA-RIFFIC two piece swimsuit at Rue 107.

This Rue 107 Miami Bikini Top comes in the most lovely purple-pink color and has these amazing sheer mermaid sleeves. So different and so dramatic! And the bikini bottoms are navy and white stripe with a luscious fruit and foliage motif. I love the way they paired together. So unexpected!

Traveling can be super stressful, and that's why I always try to wear simple, classic pieces that look great and don't hamper you when you're lugging around all of your bags at the airport! When I went to Full Figured Fashion Week earlier this month, I had to take TWO suitcases and TWO carry on bags. It was extremely hard to come up with 9 days worth of killer outfits and fit them all onto a plane, but I managed it! Thankfully, Avenue offered me the chance to choose a simple and chic outfit that was perfect for traveling.

I knew I wanted to wear pants -- because you never know if you'll have to find a seat on the floor in the airport while you're waiting to board. And I wanted a loose top that looked effortless and that I wouldn't fuss with. The solution? These classic black capri pant that were super stretchy and comfortable and I paired them with this great black and white colorblock sharkbite tunic top from Avenue for the journey!

This ended up being the perfect travel outfit. It was chic and effortless and I could look put together, even when I was seriously stressing about getting packed, to the airport and through security in time for my flight!

 I made it to the airport with plenty of time to spare!!!! And I felt so excited to start my journey to Full Figured Fashion Week! What a great start to the trip!

During Full Figured Fashion Week (FFFWeek) in New York City, I took an hour or so to play tourist before the panels started heating up on Sunday. I knew that I had to visit the Empire State Building when I was in town, so I hopped over there on Sunday morning. Since the Empire State Building is a classic art deco building that makes me swoon...I wanted to wear something classic and girly. And this light blue flowy off-the-shoulder top with this rich vibrant red full circle skirt was just perfect for the outing!

I was complete in awe of the building when I walked into the lobby...the rich marble, the golden engraved reliefs and the gorgeous columns were so lovely!

What I Wore: I paired this mint blue (or aqua) off the shoulder top from Forever 21 Plus with this rich red circle skirt from Studio Untold on Fullbeauty.com. The and shoes are from Lane Bryant and the fringe straw bag is from H&M.

 What a view!!!!!

 It was SO SO SO windy...that I had to hold my skirt down the entire time. And since it was SO FULL...it was impossible to keep down!! Some lovely bystanders were so kind and tried to help me keep it down long enough for a picture. LOL. And one woman even used her cane to hold down my skirt in the back. I was laughing so hard...and the wind was so relentless...that these were the best photos I could get. LOL. But...it was so fun and everyone was very helpful to a solo blogger trying to get a picture!

What a wonderful day...and a great little morning adventure in New York City!

Full Figured Fashion Week officially kicked off with a wonderful and empowering Redefining Healthy panel discussion hosted by Darlene Lebron from Suits, Heels, and Curves. She brought together a fabulous panel of individuals to each address health from a different perspective -- confidence, style, exercise, inner strength and beauty. It was such a touching, powerful start to the week and it was a great reminder for each of us to focus on our personal health and well-being.

The panel kicked off with a personal discussion among the panelist, moderated by one of my most favorite people in the world, Marcy Cruz, blogger behind Fearlessly Just Me and the Blog Editor for Plus Model Magazine. 

She is absolutely lovely and led a great session where the panelists discussed their relationships to food, activity, and other aspects of style and beauty. Each panelist shared her story and reinforced the idea that health is not determined solely by waist size or bmi or what doctors tell you. Health is a spectrum that all people -- no matter their size -- need to be aware of and work to balance. It was very moving and inspiring! 

After the panel, it was time to get in a little sexy workout! Jessie Diaz from Curves with Moves is a Certified Vixen Instructor, and she led us in a sexy fun workout including all sorts of Beyonce-worthy poses. It was so hot and I was sweating like crazy -- even though it wasn't a very long workout!

After that, we had heard from Ada Rojas, the beauty blogger behind Gypsy in the City...and she let us in on some beauty secrets including a foundation that can withstand the summer face sweat situation! 

Another one of my favorite parts of the panel was the Finding Your Shero session with Sahar Paz. She opened with a strong, inspiring spoken word piece and led us in a discussion about overcoming our fears and embracing who we are from the inside out. This was the most intimate part of the day -- where many people shared their personal stories and struggles.

It was a fabulous session, and I was thrilled when Darlene announced that that they will be having a separate, stand along Redefining Healthy conference next year! I'm looking forward to what she does with the #IAMREDEFININGHEALTHY movement that she has created!

Oh...and I also had a blast meeting Sasha the Glamazon, one of the panelist and a certified diva extraordinaire, and Gwen Devoe, the founder of FFFWeek!

I had one free afternoon to myself when I was in New York City for Full Figured Fashion Week, and since it was a gorgeous, mild, sunny day...and I knew I wanted to go for a long walk in Central Park. I cannot tell you how much I loved this dress. It fit perfectly! With cap sleeves and a full skirt...and OMG POCKETS!!!, this Society Plus Skater Dress felt so fresh and flirty. It paired perfectly with some white sneakers...like these La Coste slides! Throw on a belt, and you have a stylish, comfortable outfit perfect for just about any occasion!

After meandering through the park and taking in all the sites, I stumbled upon this adorable little fairgrounds. I so wanted to sneak in, but it was closed for a private event. I managed to snap some pictures anyway though!

When I finally forced myself to leave the park, I walked through Times Square. It's so colorful...full of energy and so many people from all over the world!

It was a lovely end to the day and a wonderful low-key moment during a hectic week!

You guys know I love a dress that has a simple shape and bold colors. And OMG...this dress is my favorite right now!! I worked with Avenue Plus to choose a few pieces to wear to Full Figured Fashion Week, and I thought this Multi Swirl Asymmetrical Plus Size Dress might be a nice, comfortable dress for running around the city. Well, I was RIGHT...but I also didn't anticipate how striking it would be--the bold colors and unique design really make this dress stand out! It can be casual (throw on some flats and even a denim jacket when it's cooler), but can also be right at home on a fancy night out--with some heels and fun accessories!

 I can't stop smiling in these pictures! You know I love what I'm wearing if I'm smiling that hard! The fit of this plus size abstract maxi dress is perfect...the armholes are the right size and don't gape...the scoop neckline is the perfect length -- showing just enough decolletage, without being too provocative. And the asymmetrical hem is unexpected and a little edgy. It's made from a nice knit with plenty of stretch, so if you're in between sizes, you might even order down.

I finally got to attend the legendary Full Figured Fashion Week Curves at Sea All White Cruise in New York last month. And it definitely lived up to the hype! So many gorgeous women dressed in ethereal and bright white in every shade and silhouette. Curvy goddesses descending on a yacht -- to dance the night away! They should have named this cruise boat Mount Olympus!

This dress was actually a last minute substitution. The dress I had planned to wear fell through and I had to fit in an emergency shopping trip during one free afternoon. I went to the Macy's that is actually the biggest store in the world--it takes up a full city block! I felt like there had to be something in their plus size section -- which has one of the biggest selections I've ever seen. However, I came up empty. As a last ditch effort, I took a cruise through the regular size formal section and found this Ralph Lauren Dress on clearance that was a size 14. I took a chance and tried it on...and it fit! A little tight, and we had a definite VBL situation...but it worked and I felt glamorous and ready to party!

Gold accessories all the way -- the chunky gold necklace and bracelets set off the with perfectly! And I got to hang with these amazing ladies all night -- Amanda from Latest Wrinkle and Lisa from Mustang Sally Two. SO CUTE!

 I loved the back of this dress, which had draping that started at the one shoulder and gently fluttered in the breeze.

 The night skyline was my favorite! It was so beautiful!

When I was planning for my trip to New York City for Full Figured Fashion Week and the Golden Confidence Pool Party, I absolutely could not decide which swimsuit I wanted to bring. So what's a girl to do when she can't decide? She takes all 3 and has a few outfit changes during the event! This Always For Me Sundance Plus Size Bikiniwas one of my favorites, and I had to give it its due at the pool party! And guess what?? 2 other gorgeous girls were wearing the same one! I wish I could have gotten a picture of all three of us...but I missed the chance. However, Amanda from Latest Wrinkle was SO AMAZING and snapped these photos of me before the party heated up!

When Always for Me asked me to be part of their Swim Squad, I was thrilled and so honored! They recently introduced their own line of plus size swimsuits, and I love the styles they came out with. I am no stranger to wearing a plus size bikini, but in the past, I've stayed more in the high-waisted realm. I was actually a little nervous to this style, because the cut of the swim bottoms came below my belly button! But when I put this Sundance Plus Size Bikini on for the first time, I was SHOCKED! The top has a super flattering cut...with a triangular, laser cut ruffle that offers some coverage over the belly area. The suit is a gorgeous bright blue and has a bit of a bohemian feel to it. I felt so CUTE and confident!

I played up the bohemian feel by pairing it with this great Always For Me Plus Size Aztec Fringe Cover Up which I absolutely loved! It has a simple tunic shape with a great blue, black and white pattern...and did I mention FRINGE???

 I love this plus size bikini...and I'm so glad I took a bit of a chance and pushed a little outside of my comfort zone. I can't wait to share with you a few of my other Always For Me #swimsquad choices coming in the next few weeks!

Sometimes, I want to change in my bright colors and go for a classic, sexy little black dress. I love putting together looks that are dark, mysterious, with a little edge to them like the Film Noir heroines of the 40s and 50s! Boho chic is totally in for all sizes this season, and the plus size fashion world has embraced it! I am usually more of a structured, power dress kind of gal, but I love the bohemian look and wanted to put something together that looked effortless, breezy, cool and casual. I was shopping on State St in downtown Chicago and decided to give H&M a try, since they are known for being super trendy. Unfortunately, they did not have their plus size selections in the store, but I walked around anyway, hoping to spot something that would fit. And VOILA! I found 2 pieces that were perfect for the fashion-forward boho-vibe I was going for, even though they were not plus size pieces!

These were not plus size items -- actually the size of both pieces was L -- so don't be afraid to try on straight-sized items if they are open, flowy or have a lot of stretch to them. And wow...I absolutely love pairing florals and stripes together. Look at how dramatic this outfit is!

 The blue belt is from Eloquii and it was the perfect addition to bring tie the kimono to the dress! To complete the look, I just piled on as many accessories as possible...including this beautiful JORD Wood Watch that I've featured before on my blog. I felt cool and a little funky! And...again...FLATS! These cute little tennis shoes are the perfect thing to bum around in this summer. I might be a tennis-shoes-with-dresses convert now!

So...my two pointers for plus size ladies wanting to put together a trendy boho-chic look? First, don't be afraid to go bold and mix your patterns. Secondly, don't be afraid to shop in the straight size section of major retailers...you might just find the perfect piece to complete your look!

Plus size jumpsuits are totally having a moment right now! After a few false starts, so many retailers have found the perfect formula to fit and flatter plus size curves with innovative, fun and trendy jumpsuit designs. And all of these jumpsuits have led to this moment in time. THIS JUMPSUIT from ELOQUII is the absolute best version of a jumpsuit that has existed since the beginning of time. Am I exaggerating? NO. I love love love love this cropped denim style. It's adorable and a little funky and totally on trend.

This denim jumpsuit fits like a glove -- although, with Eloquii, I usually size up. This is a size 20, instead of my usual 18. The shoulder straps are wide enough to cover my bra straps -- which is always a plus! And the jumpsuit has intricate stitching around the pockets and seams. The other detail that makes me swoon is the cropped, frayed hemline! It gives a playful, on-trend air to the design!

The denim is the perfect backdrop for super colorful, funky accessories!

In June, I was lucky enough to make it to New York City for 3 incredible plus size fashion events: the Golden Confidence Pool Party, Full Figured Fashion Week, and Curvy Con! It was my first time at all three events, and I felt like I had died and gone to plus size heaven! It was one of the most exciting, supportive and beautiful experiences of my life. And Curvy Con capped the week off with a fabulous shopping expo, amazing panels, and great after-parties.

This 2 day event was created by the lovely Chastity Garner of GarnerStyle.com and CeCe Olisa of Plus Size Princess. I managed to snap a picture with them and my favorite side kick of the weekend Amanda from Latest Wrinkle between sessions!

A few highlights of this year's Curvy Con...

First...the people and the panels! I loved loved loved getting to see so many of my curvy blogging sisters! Seeing them in person and getting the chance to tell them how much I've admired them over the years was just a dream come true...not to mention the parade of fabulous, gorgeous outfits!

My fan girl meter when OFF THE CHARTS during the panel with Ashley Nell Tipton, Jes Baker, and Valerie Segun...and my smiles turned to real tears when they showed the incredibly powerful and moving video "Here I Am" that was sponsored by JC Penny.

There were so many moments like that during the event, that I am sitting here grinning while thinking back on them! 

Here's a cute shot of me and Georgette from Grown and Curvy Woman. I've been a fan of her for years and finally got to see her beautiful smile in person.

And I loved all the cute photo ops and backdrops throughout the space! This one was a favorite!

I loved this Boohoo Plus Size Embroidered Shirt Dress the moment I saw it on their site! By the time I got it, I had already planned out the rock n roll, rough and tumble look I wanted to go for. Since it was sheer, I wanted to be covered, but not too covered. So, I wore a full coverage black bra and some shorts underneath and the only thing left to do was to add some badass shades.

And of course...I just had to go stand in front of a tattoo parlor, because...why not? This outfit totally belongs in front of a tattoo parlor. I also feel like this outfit channels a little bit of the KING...Elvis, that is. Maybe it's the shades? Or the embroidery? I don't know, but I was feeling some major world-dominating cool-girl-bad-ass-ness in this outfit.

This is the plus size cocktail dress to beat all cocktail dresses! And yes, it's from Kiyonna, one of my all time favorite plus size brands. This olive color is just divine, isn't it?! The Ciara Cinch dress is a faux wrap with a tabbed inset detail at the waist that adds some extra pleats or ruching to fan out nicely over your belly. And the wrap design is always amazing for the girls! All I needed was to pluck a gorgeous tiger lily from a nearby hedge, and add some nude and gold accessories, and I was ready for happy hour!

This dress goes to the office, to drinks and to just about any event on your social calendar! Earlier this month, I wore this Kiyonna Ciara Cinch Dress during the Celebrate My Size Expo at Full Figured Fashion week. I felt amazing in it, and was werkin' it for the cameras for sure!

During the Celebrate My Size Expo, I got to meet the lovely Allie McGevna, the model, blogger and media personality behind Inside Allie's World. She was so fun and friendly, and I loved meeting her!

To say that I'm dressed obsessed is a laughable understatement, since 90% of my wardrobe is every shape and style of plus size dress out there! So, obviously, I was thrilled when Simply Be asked me to be a part of their "Dress Obsessed" campaign! I chose two incredible dresses to style -- the Geo High Neck Sleeveless Swing Dress* and the Simply Be Ladder Detail High Neck Dress*. Both of them are so unique and can be worn to the office and out and about socially!

Which one is your favorite???

The Simply Be Ladder Detail High Neck Dress is so Victorian and romantic!

This the high neck and flounced sleeves and hem. And the black and white floral pattern is gorgeous ---Makes me want to drink tea and carry a parasol! And can we talk about the shoulder cut out detail? No cold shoulders here! This has a totally unique side cut out that's on the front of the shoulders instead of the more obvious top.

And, wow, I'm completely obsessed with these peek-a-boo pumps! These Paper Doll Mesh Cutout Court Shoes are divine! Headed to work? All you need to complete the look is a great black tote. This  Leather Tote Bag from Simply Be is simple and sturdy -- and stylish -- and will hold all of your work essentials.

The other dress that I'm completely obsessed with is the Geo High Neck Sleeveless Swing Dress. 

This simple silhouette needs little embellishment since it comes in this bright, colorful abstract pattern. But of course...instead of playing the colors down...I wanted to pump them up...WAY UP. I added a Waterfall Mac in a bright and cannot-be-ignored shade of LIME, bright cobalt blue cutout block heels and a blue-on-blue colorblocked mini satchel.

 Do you know how unbelievably refreshing it is to see someone wearing a riot of color during their daily commute? This Lime Waterfall Mac stands out like a beacon among the sea of black, dark and drab coats. Be a beacon!

And while you're at it, wear some comfortable, amazing shoes like these Sole Diva Block Heel Shoe Boots in Cobalt Blue and add a sassy little bag like this Color-block Satchel -- both from Simply Be!

I'm obsessed with both dresses, and can't wait to wear them now -- and in the fall! All you need to do is add some tights and you're good to wear both of these dresses throughout the fall!

How would YOU wear a bright teal tulle plus size skirt?! That's the question that Gwynnie Bee posed to me and two other amazing plus size bloggers, Tamera Hughes and Liz from With Wonder and Whimsy for a 3-way Style post. For my part in this style challenge, I wanted to put together a fun cocktail look. When I saw  the bright and cheerful teal hue of this Twirling in Tulle Skirt, I knew that I wanted to put together an outfit that would stand out in a room and put a smile on my face! So instead of playing down the color, I added even MORE!

What goes great with teal? Yellow! I added a bright yellow cowl-neck top, a fuchsia pink sequin clutch, graffiti art heels, and bright multi-colored accessories to tie it all together. It was the perfect fun and flirty party look!

This challenge demonstrates one of the things I love about Gwynnie Bee...that you can have fun with your fashion and take risks without committing to a purchase.
